The Great Gatsby

Primeiramente gostaria de dizer bem vindas de volta! Espero que as férias de todas tenham sido maravilhosas :-)

First of all I would like to say welcome back! I hope you had fabulous vacation :-)

Durante as férias li um grande clássico da literatura americana: O Grande Gatsby, de F. Scott Fitzgerald. O livro conta a história de um homem bem sucedido nos anos 20, que mesmo sendo o anfitrião de festas luxuosas regadas à álcool, vivia assombrado por um amor do passado.

During my vacation I read a great classic from American literature: The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The book tells a story about a well succeeded man in the 20s, that even being the host of luxurious parties full of alcohol, was haunted by a love from the past.

O Grande Gatsby foi escrito por Fitzgerald em 1925 e por isso, as vezes é difícil entender certas expressões, principalmente se você optar por ler a versão original em inglês, assim como eu. Ainda assim, é um livro leve que a partir de certo momento consegue surpreender e por isso mesmo, prender o leitor, que se pega fazendo exatamente aquilo que o narrador fala logo no início como algo que não se deve fazer: criticando (ou julgando) as pessoas. Outra ironia é que o livro ficou mais conhecido exatamente por ser uma espécie de crítica ao estilo de vida inconsequente e leviano da década de 20. 

The Great Gatsby was written by Fitzgerald in 1925 and because of that it's hard sometimes to understand certain expressions, specially if you read the original version in English (when English is not your mother language), like I did. Even so, it's a "light" book that from a certain point on can surprise and make the reader go deeper in the story and even doing exactly what the narrator says right in the beginning that no one should do: criticizing (or judging) people. Another irony is that the book became known mostly because of the fact that it is some sort of critic to the inconsequent and frivolous lifestyle from the 20s. 

A versão de cinema do livro já existe, mas esse ano, mais precisamente dia 14 de junho - Brasil -, um novo filme que conta com Leonardo DiCaprio como Gatsby promete trazer esse clássico imperdível ainda mais perto das novas gerações.

The movie version of the book already exists, but this year, more precisely on May 10th - worldwide -,  a new movie with Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby promises to bring this unforgettable classic even closer to the new generations.
